Duilleog

When Duilleog (Leaf) was rescued from the streets and arrived at our sanctuary she made for a very sorry sight. Not only was her skin red and raw she was she covered in fleas and showed signs of having pumped out litter after litter. This beautiful, gentle, kind girl was utterly defeated. At approximately 4 years old she looked and acted like an old dog as her previous life taken so much out of her. She was a shell, just existing but had given up hope of ever finding a life full of love and kindness.

Everybody at Heathlawn fell in love with her.

Once Duilleog understood that humans gave hugs and kisses she couldn’t get enough of them. It was as if she simply couldn’t believe her luck that she was now worthy of such attention. Duilleog deserved a home where she would be the centre of attention, a home who wanted a dog to shower them with love and let them know they were a forever part of their family.

When we read an application that had come in for another one of our dogs, we just knew it was the perfect home for Duilleog instead. Shona and her daughters arrived at Heathlawn to meet Duilleog and after some time spent together we could see that our instincts had been right.

We hear that Duilleog has settled in beautifully and we received some beautiful photos with some equally beautiful words from Shona telling us just how much Duilleog already means to her and her daughters and how they couldn’t be happier and honoured to have her as a member of their family. For Duilleog all those hopes and dreams that were once just a distant thought, have now come true and we couldn’t be happier knowing that she now knows unconditional love.

Thank you Shona and family for choosing to give a rescue dog in need their second chance. Also, our thanks to the young girl who spotted Duilleog as she wandered miserably on the streets and didn’t ignore the sad little dog she was. To our wonderful foster family, the Ralphs, who dropped everything that night to head out and bring Duilleog home until we could collect her the next day.

Its teamwork that saves lives and we are always proud to play our part in bringing happiness and love to those who need it the most❤️
