Yesterday was the day that our golden oldie Avery started a new chapter in her life. Avery came to us last year from Meath Dog Pound after she was found as a stray. She found sanctuary life quite difficult despite our best efforts to keep her happy.
In March this year Avery got the break she so badly needed. Gabriel and Henry are regular volunteers with us at Heathlawn so when they offered to foster Avery during Covid we couldn’t have been happier. Gabriel and Henry have put so much love, kindness and dedication into their time with Avery, making sure she got to experience so many new things that would help her when the time came for her to leave.
A couple of months ago, a chance meeting between our kennel manager and a lady called Suzanne was to be the beginning of Averys journey to her forever home. Suzanne was interested in adopting a dog and after their chat, we put her in touch with Gabriel. Respecting Averys age and initial shyness Gabriel, Henry, Suzanne and Avery met up and got to know one another. We all felt it was the best way for Avery to transition from her foster home to her forever home.
Last night Avery was happy and relaxed as she left her wonderful foster parents, Gabriel and Henry and headed home with her new forever mum Suzanne. We are all delighted to know Avery has found forever happiness and love. Thanks to our amazing friends Gabriel and Henry who went above and beyond to give Avery the best start on her journey home, your commitment and love towards her was outstanding.
Our most heartfelt thanks to Suzanne who looked past age and saw the beautiful, loyal and loving soul that Avery is.
We just love a happy ending.
