This young boy had been seen wandering the streets for a number of days, but ran away in fear anytime someone tried to approach him.
Thankfully, a kind lady with a love for animals used food to coax him into her garden, where she quickly shut her gate and rang us.
This sweet but nervous boy, had no idea what to expect from us as we slowly approached him, definitley not kind words or gentle hands, that’s for sure. He trembled and was so very wary of our every move.
Once back at Heathlawn, we let Carbon find his bed and hide away. Like so many new arrivals, Carbon needed time to adjust.
As always within our sanctuary, we believe in taking a step back from new dogs who arrive full of fear and ask our more settled, confident dogs to take over for us. It never fails to work and Carbon found himself feeling safe and loved in the company of Avery, our older collie girl and Haze, our young, happy-go-lucky lurcher.
Watching both Haze and Avery happy and relaxed in our company, gave Carbon the courage to come over to say hello and enjoy a cuddle.
Carbon will continue to receive love and cuddles in his foster home and will shed his fears and past memories and enjoy his time there, until he is ready for his furever home.
Our thanks, as always, to all those caring, compassionate people who don’t turn a blind eye to those in need.
