September 2020 saw the arrival of a very scared little terrier girl who had been found lying injured on the roads, in Mullingar, after she was hit by a car. One of her front legs was severely damaged and, at first, we all hoped it was just nerve damage and would, perhaps, heal. Sadly, as the weeks passed Amica/s leg remained dragging behind her and the decision was made to amputate it. Thankfully Amica was in a foster home with Gabrielle and Henry receiving the care and love she needed.

The time has now come for Amica to find her forever home, as her foster parents will soon be returning to work and it would be unfair on Amica to be left home alone. Amica is still a very shy and withdrawn girl around people she doesn’t know and it is something that she may never get fully over. But once she knows you she is very sweet, loving and trusting.

Amica will need a home in the countryside where she doesn’t have to have too much interaction with too many people or strange dogs, as she finds busy places quite distressing but once out and about in nature, away from the hustle and bustle, she feels free and safe. Amica will then ‘let loose’ and have the best time running around playing and running (having 3 legs doesn’t slow Amica down). Amica needs a home with dog experience, lots of patience and love that will find joy in watching the real Amica emerge. Amica is currently living with a cat and is gentle with him. Amica is looking for a childless home with someone at home most of the day. A secure garden is a must. Amica doesn’t come without her issues but underneath them all she is a loving girl who just needs a special home with special people❣

Dogs like Amica so often get overlooked in favour of dogs who are labelled “easier” but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve the same chance as they do.

If you feel you can give Amica the chance she needs and deserves please complete an online adoption application form.
