Sadly our little tripod girl Amica has returned to our sanctuary, due to her and one of the other dogs in the household not getting along. What started out as bickering turned to squabbling and then it escalated. Her new family did so much to try and work through the situation but after some time, lengthy chats and many tears we decided it wasn’t fair on either of the dogs. Unfortunately it happens and the cracks only really started to appear as time went on. So for Amica, we try again.
Amica is the sweetest, most affectionate, kindest little girl. she does have her quirks but in the right home we just know how wonderful she will be. Amica takes time to warm to new people. The root of her problem is fear and untrust. Once you gain her trust she is warm, loving and loyal. But meeting new people and new dogs whilst out and about can set Amica off and she shows her fear by barking at whatever it is that is making her feel vulnerable and scared. In our sanctuary we have introduced Amica to quite a few dogs and once they don’t over power too much she handles the meeting well, of course, she has had to tell a few cheeky lurchers off here and there but does so without any real aggression.
We are looking for a quiet home for Amica where there won’t be too many different people calling by. A rural home so Amica doesn’t feel threatened by having to meet lots of people/dogs whilst out and about. We feel Amica may be best as an only dog again, simply, so she can adjust and live without worry. No young children, preferably an adult only home with a couple or maybe a person on their own.
Amica LOVES cuddles, is easy to handle and flies around despite only having 3 legs. All Amica needs is an understanding home, one willing to allow her the time and space to trust. And when she does trust there really isn’t a sweeter natured dog out there. Amica is cat friendly, travels well in the car and enjoys lazy time on the sofa. Please don’t let her be over-looked as a “less adoptable dog”.
All she needs is someone willing to take a chance and understand her.
